WELCOME HOME

Let me start with some bit of history of the land that birthed me, the land that I come from, the land that carved it's magical powers of pride in my skin.

We walked and walked and sometimes or often times we talked because we weren't dumb though there could have been some dumb in our midst.
In fact we couldn't have been quiet, considering the fact that we were happy to be escaping from a tyrant, his name? Agorkoli.

My grandfather told me the story of how we traveled many miles and temporarily settled at many places, from the time the tower of Babel fell, led by the great ancient warrior Nimrod, whose great talent in matters of battle led us to win many wars.

We settled at Ile Ife, for a long while before moving again to settle at Notsie, the town of both glory and sorrow. Our story is similar to that of the Israelites, yes it is, that's what my grandfather said.
Our glory days in Notsie was during the time of Agorkoli's father but it all changed when Agorkoli became king.

During those times, they were known as the Dogbo Community. Agorkoli became more fierce when he realized they had tricked him to kill his own son after the Dogbo community falsely accused the prince of killing one of them.
The Dogbos bragged "we have avenged the death of a living man''. It was the last thing they did before they fled Notsie to settle at present day Volta land.
Why they did that will be a story for another day.
Volta land is located in the most amazing country you can find in the whole world
It's a land that flows with laughter, peace and love
Graced with people with different backgrounds and ideologies yet united in all ways
It's crazy how we make fun of our own difficult situations, so much that inspite of that, we're able to overcome our challenges as one
I'm talking of God's own piece of land, GHANA

#InTheLandOfImaginations: WHAT GOD TOOK FROM ME

Efe spun around in her room, as she looked at how beautiful she looked in her dress. She'd carefully chosen this orange circle dress just to look her best. Orange was Ebo's favourite colour and it will suit the occasion best she thought.

She paused... Something was missing... She stood still carefully scrutinizing her look, trying to figure out what was missing... She folded her arms across her chest and tapped her lips with her right index finger... "Ah haaa!" she finally let out.. She needed a necklace and she knew just which one to wear. She'd wear the one Ebo bought her on her last birthday.

She took the clothes off, took her towel and dashed into the bathroom. As she bathed she thought about Ebo, about her and about them.
They grew up together in the same neighborhood, went to the same schools even up to the University. Everyone, including her knew how a perfect match they both were for each other, but the problem was, Ebo didn't seem to see it. She'…

#EchoesOfInspiration: LOTTERY CALLED LIFE

I don't know how old you are but I know that more than half of your life has been used either for giving up, thinking about giving up, almost giving up and thinking you could never get there, you could never get to get stuff done or simply that life wasn't worth it at all

Quick reminder: you're not alone

Which one amongst us asked to be given birth to?

Reality check: none of us!

But we're here anyway, so what are we going to do? Sit down, just grow up and eventually die, or make the most out of this "unfortunate" situation called life?
I'd take the latter. You know why? Because life is like the lottery and  you have to be in it to win it as said in the movie "NAKED"

Many of us have given up on love and relationships. We don't want it anymore because someone hurt us so bad. So in order to avoid getting hurt again, we'd choose to remain single.
Do you know that means you've lost the game? That makes you the loser, that makes you a quit…

#EchoesOfInspiration: GOD IS A TAXI DRIVER

Last night I met God. He was just getting off the phone with someone.
"in an hour's time" He said roughly, yet calmly, then he ended the call. I bet it was a prayer he was answering. (Thinking about it, that one hour he said, could mean one year oo)

When I saw him. I just knew he was the one I'd go with. He laughed a lot and for some reasons, I was drawn to him.
So after boo negotiated the fare,  I took my good bye kiss which he always, carefully plants on my forehead in the same way you put an egg down.
"Keep the jacket" he said smiling as I opened the door lazily and sat at the back seat

After sitting, I took a moment to scan the seat, as my ears caught the sound of a favorite gospel song playing and I'd never seen a taxi so dirty like the one I sat in.
"Oh what happened here?" I asked calmly though with displeasure.
"Oh a woman I just dropped off" he replied shrugging his shoulders like he really wasn't bothered about it, no, …
